Tirhut College of Physical Education, Muzaffarpur was established first as an Institute, then as school and now as a college serving the cause of Physical Education since 1938. The college at present is situated at Jhaphan at a distance of 7 miles from the heart of the city of Muzaffarpur on the main road leading to Sitamarhi.
Facilities include two gymnasiums, administrative building, separate boys and girls hostel, staff quarters, swimming pool, class rooms, stadium, track, covered stadium for indoor games, library etc.
Tirhut College of Physical Education, Muzaffarpur was founded by Shri Krishna Nandan Sahay in 1938 and its building was inaugurated by A. R. Kidwai, the then Hon'ble Governer of Bihar. This is the 5th oldest Physical Education college of India. Later this college was visited by Mr. Arjun Singh, Minister of H.R.D. Government of India. The names of other important personalities who visited this college include Mr. Satendra Narayan Singh, the then Chief Minister of Bihar, Mr. R. S. Tiwary, Secretary, Youth Culture, Government of Bihar and Mrs. Sudha Panday, Minister of Sports, Government of Bihar.
